Boost (Reserved)

Boost (Reserved)

Boost (Redbrick Boost)

born Oct 21

Quiet enough fellow. Enough brains to know when and how to quit the ring. Boost won four races but frankly we don’t think his heart was in it. Just another black dog, sitting in his kennel awaiting a family to overlook his colour. Not too big at 31 kgs. Boost is the last of the family to be rehomed and has moved up to Scotland to see if he can attract some interest.

Boost is a quiet and friendly boy who walks calmly on his lead. Boost would benefit from being rehomed with a female Greyhound. We will be able to assess him once he has settled. Although the facilities seem to have met with his approval and the food is epic..

He has been waiting a year now. Time he was gone.
Cracking looking fellow.

Eady, Poppy, and Rodney

Well… what a great end to September… with THREE dogs going off to their new homes on the 30th. Little stray Lurcher, Eady; 11 year old Poppy; and last but not least, one of our overlooked black boys, Rodney!

Be good…!

Dogs looking for homes

Rolo

If you follow our page, the likelihood is you already know that the black boys wait longer to be adopted. However, last week, not ONE but TWO of our black boys were reserved! But whilst the lucky two are busy packing their bags, we still have many others waiting for their chance, including Rolo pictured here.

Reeves

After his career came to a heart stopping and very sudden end back in March, gorgeous Reeves deserves a truly special home. He is quite simply the happiest boy who is determined to live life to the full.

Reeves absolutely loves people and wants to be friends with everyone he meets. He is great with other hounds and has not reacted to any of the other breeds he has seen out & about, including smaller dogs such as Cockapoos. Reeves absolutely loves being out & about and travels well in the car – jumping in by himself & laying down.

He’s a confident, happy go lucky boy so would probably be happy as an only dog or he could also happily live with another male or female Greyhound.

Jane

Poor Jane is wondering where she’s going wrong. She’s heard the girls normally get homed quickly, so she can’t understand why she’s been waiting 6 months?! She might not have an exotic name, like Azure or be an eye-catching colour, like Bramble but our Jane is far from plain.

When you think of Jane… think girl next door… sweet, friendly & unassuming. She has never had a cross word with anyone or anything. And, in a kennel full of drama queens & divas (and that’s just the boys!), there is certainly no shame in being the sensible, straightforward one!

A lovely girl, who walks calmly on her lead and now just needs someone to show her how truly gorgeous & special she is.

If you are able to offer a home to a Tia dog, please visit our rehoming page here, or email rehoming@tia-rescue.org. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER in the email.

Thank you!

Rodney

After chasing the ladies for the past few years… Rodney’s decided it’s high time he settled down! This gorgeous 3 year old is quite a character and a favourite with our volunteers and kennel staff alike. Rodney is a very affectionate boy whose main priority in life is getting more kisses & cuddles than his mates.

He would dearly love a child free home and a female greyhound to share his life with.

Presley

A fabulous 5 year old who retired nearly 12 months ago, after 102 races! Don’t let his grey face fool you, Presley is still young at heart! He’s a happy go lucky boy who is very friendly and loves people. Presley walks nicely on his lead, without pulling and is fine with other dogs he’s seen whilst out & about. In the home however Presley would prefer to be the only pet, as he likes all the fuss & attention!

Crockett

This gorgeous boy will be 6 next month. His last & only race in Britain was in March 2022. He came to Tia in September last year as one of 27 dogs removed from their trainer’s neglect. Crockett has spent the last 10 months in a home so he is house trained, used to his home comforts and has been great with the other dogs he has met. Crockett is looking for a quiet, adult only home.

Domino

A sweet natured Lurcher, estimated to be 2 – 4 years of age. He is currently in foster on the Isle of Sky. Domino is house trained, calm yet affectionate with people and loves travelling in the car. Domino is looking for an active home with someone who can continue his basic training. Pet free with a secure garden.

Geronimo

From the same kennels as Branno, stunning Geronimo is another smashing boy! Four years old and already a total gent. Calm & quiet, he gets on well with other hounds and has walked nicely on his lead with our volunteers who describe him as a simply “lovely, lovely boy”. A special soul.

If you think you can offer these or any of our dogs a home, please visit our rehoming page, or get in touch at rehoming@tia-rescue.org.

Please leave your phone number in the email!

We request a minimum donation of £350 to adopt.

Henry (Scotland)

Henry (Scotland)

Henry (Battletime)

Born June 2019

Henry has been waiting for his family to show up for eighteen months. We are told he would be a great family dog. He isn’t as big as the some of the other males but made up for it in courage. Twenty-four wins is nothing to be sniffed at. His colour is against him as is his age.

Henry is a little poppet with a gorgeous face.  He’s very small for a boy.  So small in fact that we had to go back to the car (when he wasn’t looking!) and get the harness we normally reserve for the girls!  Henry is very affectionate and friendly.  He stood calmly when we put his harness on and walked beautifully on his lead, never pulling once.  Henry isn’t a nervous boy, but he does like to “check in” with you on a walk, which is very sweet.  We passed a collie whilst walking Henry and despite the collie barking, all Henry did was prick up his ears and look with interest.  A really, lovely boy who his trainer tells us is brilliant with kids”.

A lovely lovely type.

Azure

How can this beautiful girl not yet have a home? Azure is an absolute angel. The sort of girl who is unlikely to ever put a paw out of place.

Quiet and gentle, she walks calmly on her lead… almost like a shadow… never leaving your side. Azure has recently been spayed and unfortunately experienced a few complications. She’s now fully recovered and back on her feet, but it’s been a rough few weeks for this gorgeous 3 year old and we’d love to see her in a home, being showered with love as soon as possible.

Would probably suit first time owner or someone looking for calm & placid girl.

Mars

The phrase “ladies first” is becoming all too familiar to our boy, Mars. Over the past six months he has seen all 3 of his sisters head off to new homes and yesterday he waved goodbye to his kennel mate, Elsa. Of course Mars doesn’t begrudge the girls their good fortune… far from it… but it’s a sad fact that the boys do wait longer.

Mars is one of six brothers and sisters that we were asked to re-home earlier this year and, of all the siblings, Mars is the most timid & shy. A little bit unsure, he would benefit from a patient and quiet home, ideally with another hound to help build his confidence.

A beautiful dog who will come out of his shell given time. Mars will be 4 next month and last raced in October 2023.

Tia Dog Walk

On Sun 12th Oct, we will be having our ever popular Tia Dog Walk and Stall (or two) at Cannon Hall Country Park, Cawthorne, near Barnsley S75 4AT, 10am to 4pm. The dog walk around the grounds of Cannon Hall will start at 11am from the stall. Do come along. It is very dog friendly.

Strays

These two beautiful boys were picked up as strays. They need out of the stray kennel now as they need new homes.

Please contact Cliffe kennels on 01226 762391 direct if you can help.

Ned

His racing name was Diamond Ned, and this boy is a diamond through and through. A lovely, happy, friendly 3 year old who is a joy to be around.

You can tell by the smile on Ned’s face how much he enjoys being out and about, and you can sense his happiness as he practically skips along on his lead.

A really lovely boy who is excited to see what his future holds.

Will

Will saw his kennel mate, Helena, head off to her new home last month, and we’re sure he’s missing her a bit. Their trainer used to describe the pair as an old married couple, and kind soul Will would even let Helena eat out of the same bowl.

Great with other hounds, Will is a lovely, friendly fellow who enjoys his outings with our volunteers. He has started to recognise their cars, and gets giddy and excited when he sees them arrive! He’d love to find a home where he can be going on walks & adventures every day!

Will is four this month and just another black boy looking to find his place in the world.

Boost

Lovely Boost is on the hunt for a couple of things.

Firstly – and most importantly – he’s looking for a home. Having retired in May 2024, he’s been patiently waiting for over a year, hoping someone will pick him out from the deluge of black boys. The second thing Boost is looking for is his left ear… which appears to have gone missing!

We, like Boost, hope both are found quickly so that this gorgeous boy’s life can be complete.

If you can offer these – or any of our rehoming dogs – a home, please get in touch at rehoming@tia-rescue.org. Thank you!

Tom and Marley

Tom went off to his new home last week…

As did Marley…

Be good boys…

Langley

Langley

Langley

My Way Longley

1/9/2012 – 2/9/2025

We cannot put it any better than his sponsor dog write up.

Langley raced at Belle Vue until he was nearly four years old. He wasn’t very good really, just an honest card filler. When he was no longer of any use his owner left him at the trainers with the instruction “put him to sleep” and promptly stopped paying the kennel bill. That happens more often than you think.

Fortunately the trainer and a “greyhound friend” arranged for him to come here one evening. Just another black dog, slowly making his way down to the sponsor end of the kennel block like so many others here. We doubt if his owner could have picked him out of a line-up of three anyway.

This older lad has been here for some years, he is a big gentle black hound with mesmerising eyes. Langley is settled and happy. Nobody ever chose him to go and put his feet up, he also remains as keen as mustard towards all things small.

Langley has left us for the bridge. The big dope started to fail a few days ago, and as a treat he spent a few hours in the garden.  A sleepover with Lana and Focker would be on the cards perhaps. Lana was thrilled but it didn’t work out. First time in her life she has been friend zoned. He spent the entire time standing by the gate, looking wistfully at the kennel block. We took the hint. Langley never gave us any drama and was an absolute gentleman. The old letch enticed dozens of new girls to come and see his caterpillar. The least of our troubles, and the least lauded yet will be deeply missed. He made it to thirteen and had lots of edible presents, like ham and chicken slices. He ate like a greyhound, right up to his last breath.

That’s number six this year and we are raw from the losses.

Our thanks to his loyal sponsor family who supported him to the end.

See you kid.

Upcoming Tia Fundraising Events

We will have a stall at Pudsey Scarecrow Festival next Sun 7th Sept at Pudsey Park, 10am to 4pm.

Also, on Sun 12th Oct we will be having our ever popular Tia Dog Walk and Stall at Cannon Hall, Cawthorne, near Barnsley S75 4AT, 10am to 4pm. The dog walk around the country park will start at 11am from the stall.

Geronimo

Geronimo

Geronimo (Nametab Geronimo)

born March 2021

Well, the jury is still out on the name!  A lovely lovely quiet steady dog. We haven’t told him but he has a date with a vet in a week or so. It’ll make a man of him!

He isn’t a Westmead Hawk or a Warzone Tommy but with nine wins, his record is nothing to be ashamed of. Geronimo last graced a track in March. It was a bumpy race and our friend finished out with the washing. Time to call it a day.  Geronimo is in beautiful condition and is a huge favourite on the yard.
