At 2 years old, Maura is only a baby. Understandably she is a little unsure about being out in the big wide world and needs someone who can reassure her that life after racing is good!
Kit: 3 years old and an absolute cracker. He loves a fuss and likes being out and about. He loves company so would suit someone who is retired or works from home. Read more here.
Marley: just turned 6. He is a firm favourite with us all. He is great with other hounds and could live happily with male or female Greyhounds. Read more here.
Presley: 5 year old Presley is a super friendly chap who loves attention and adores people. He has lived in a home, is house-trained and walks calmly on his lead. Would prefer to be an only dog. Read more here.
Tommy: a beautiful blue boy and a total legend. He could be forgiven for being a diva but he is actually a lovely, straightforward boy. He turns 6 this month. Read more here.
If you think you could rehome any of these dogs, please call Deb on 07974 960684. We request a minimum donation of £350 to adopt a Tia dog.
You can read about all of our rehoming dogs here.
Damn. Well, we didn’t expect to lose her so soon. Our girl has left us only weeks after her devastating diagnosis of diabetes. Tia fired back via her twice daily injections, but Maha headed for the bridge a few hours ago. Maha wasn’t alone this morning; Woody was with her in the van to say goodbye, and Deb & Bob. We should give animals more credit, they need to understand why someone has gone..
When Maha arrived at Tia rescue in October 2017, she was afraid of life, needing to spend her paddock time on a lead. Catching her was a morning’s work. Her confidence grew a little along with her waistline and Maha grew to love the kennel staff. She also idolised Woody, her kennel mate; she slept on him, hid from the world behind him, chased and played with him. Woody was her rock, her reason for living. In turn, he has filled his life watching out for her. I don’t know how he will cope.
Maha had all she ever needed in Woody, that and a good feed. It has been a pleasure to watch their devotion over the years. Thanks to all her supporters throughout the years.
Mainly though on this occasion, thanks to Woody for making her time with us so precious…
We are please to once again offer the option of monthly sponsorships for both dogs and horses!
The sponsor dogs are Tia dogs who for various reasons cannot be rehomed (or have not yet found a suitable home that meets their needs). Whilst some may one day be lucky enough to find the perfect home, many are effectively “permanent residents”…. and they all need your help!
These six below are just a fraction of the bunch…
Top (L-R) Bungle, Conrad, and Hubble. Bottom (L-R) Ida, Victor, and Uriah
You can sponsor them for just £4.50 per month. Or for £8.50 you can sponsor their kennel, and have your certificate placed on their kennel for a year.
Your sponsorship helps to pay for their food, treats, vet bills, bedding, and any and all care they may need. And of course, if you are a UK taxpayer, you can gift aid your donation and boost your contribution by 25%, at no extra cost to you. That means a regular sponsorship could be worth £5.60 per month – that’s over £67 per year!

Whilst the sponsor dogs might not be going anywhere fast, we are hoping these lot have other ideas!

These are just some of the dogs who are in search of a new home; you can meet the others here.

Thank you!
When we lost little Jack last Wednesday, we were back at the vets again a few hours later with Maha. She was on a drip for the afternoon and it turns out that after her pancreatitis episode 6 months ago, she is now diabetic.
So from now on she is on a very strict regime. No treats! She is now fed at 8am and 8pm and after each meal she has to have an insulin injection.
You can sponsor and help support Maha’s care here – £52 to sponsor her for a year, or £26 to sponsor her for 6 months.
We must once again say a huge thank you to Nutriment, who have generously sent Tia 63 cartons of bone broth. I’m sure the dogs will love it, and we really appreciate your continued support.
Due to circumstances beyond her control, Avril has had to change the date of her Tia Coffee Morning in Meltham, near Huddersfield. It will now be held on Sat 2nd August. Details will be posted on here and Facebook closer to the day.
The beautiful Gina has just gone to live with Craddock…what a beautiful pair of dogs.
We have so many other dogs who are also looking for the perfect home – if you are interested in rehoming, please get in touch at 07974 960684.
Thank you.
Faith is a fawn saluki lurcher. A bit about her…
“Faith is beautiful inside and out. She is very affectionate and loves to lay on you for a cuddle but she also has an energetic and inquisitive side. Faith has lived with another sighthound and has been great with the children she has met. She is a pleasure to walk and travels well in the car, although might be best crated as she can be curious.“
This week we said goodbye to Jack…
He arrived from the stray kennel in October 2015. Description: emaciated with bad kennel cough, 3 year old whippet x staffie. Went out to a few homes on a couple of occasions, but he never liked the uncertainty of seeing other dogs.
For such a small lad, he would turn into a ball of fury at the drop of a hat, but he was always happy and content with his lot at Tia… he loved it when the girls would stay over and he could spend the night in the flat or caravan.
Old age caught up about a month ago, we thought we would lose him then but he battled on for another month. A few days ago his pain had come back and the vet was summoned. Thanks to Moray Coast Vets for coming out so quickly.
He stuffed his face with cooked chicken and I held him as he went to sleep.
Sleep tight Little Jack Jack. Gonna miss you.
Kiah too is mortified, that’s two husbands she’s outlived.
Our fundraising stall will be at Trinity Walk Shopping Centre, Wakefield tomorrow Saturday 21st June, 10am to 4pm ish, in our usual place outside Sainsburys. We are not allowed to have dogs ourselves, but the shopping centre does allow dogs, should anyone like to visit us.

Well, that’s not very elegant young lady. How’s that for a bed fail. Hope came into Tia with her friend Faith a few months ago having been found straying in Leeds. Both dogs have thrived under the care of their foster folks, and we thank them for all the help. Fostering is not always easy and requires far more than just picking the dogs up from the pound.
Faith has snagged a great home for herself and now it is Hope’s turn. Described as a bit lazy and thoroughly enjoys the comforts after her adventures. Hope isn’t that big and is a sucker for naps, cwtches and belly rubs. A young dog, barely two years old and fairly small. Still with her foster folk in South Yorkshire. A little belter.
Nice jim-jams Hope.
born 4 Dec 2021
Quite beautiful. Spayed and ready to go to her new home. Won 4 times so not entirely disgraced. Just a little girl, standing in front of the world, asking someone to love her.
Gina is gorgeous and loves the place. The lady just lays in her bed smiling and wagging her tail. Flicks her paw occasionally when you catch her eye.
“We had the pleasure of fostering Gina and she is absolutely beautiful. She is very loving and affectionate with people and sociable with other dogs. Gina has met many different breeds, whilst on her lead, during her time with us (Collies, Labradors, Jack Russels, Spaniels, Beagles, Lhasa Apso) and she has been very calm & friendly with them all. She has met other breeds one on one and in small groups. Gina is alert with other animals, such as rabbits and birds.
Gina loves running off lead in the enclosed dog park… doing zoomies…. and playing with (killing!) her soft toys! She will try her luck counter surfing and stick her snout in any cup of tea which might be left unattended! She is housetrained but does have the occasional accident at night but it’s still early days. She is a typical Greyhound who is going to make someone a cracking companion”
Well, she isn’t going to be here long is she!
