We have now closed all the shops, apart from the Charity shop in Pickering. This was Hebden Bridge shop when we closed the doors last night, Sunday the 13th February, for the last time. The amount of people that came in over the last three days, wanting us to stay but understanding and wishing us well was unbelievable. One lady actually said that she had moved to Hebden Bridge as she liked the shops, especially ours, so much.
What struck me most though is that most of the customers thought that the shop had been run by volunteers, sadly that was never the case. The wages alone were around £40k.
The landlord was amazing and didn’t want us to go and didn’t increase the rent. But with everything else going up in April, we decided that we couldn’t take on another lease.
Thanks to my friends/volunteers who came to help over the weekend. It was a mammoth task but we did it. The surplus stock went to Shelter and Overgate and i really hope that Overgate take on our lovely shop.
Moving forward we are financially stretched to say the least….
If anyone could set up a monthly donation via the website it will be very much appreciated, no matter how small.
I have some good news however that I will be sharing soon…

The Hebden Bridge shop will closing on Sunday 13th February. We will be selling off all the stock and the shop fittings, including the rails and scaffold board shelving and the vintage haberdashery counter.
The shops just aren’t viable anymore with everything going up. Fortunately we are at lease ends with them all, apart from Pickering so this one will be staying open. To be honest it is a bit of a relief. I know we are going to take a massive hit financially but we can’t carry on as we have done.
I will be there all weekend if anyone wants to come and say goodbye/help.
I will be posting a full update on Tia soon.
Thanks Deb

I think we have had a Charity shop in Halifax for around fifteen years and we have been in the one at Southgate for over ten years. It has always been a decent shop, income wise. However come this April when everything goes up it will no longer be viable. We all know that everything is going up but they are even taking money off charities, all of us.
We used to get over half of our income from the shops which basically paid for the staff at the farm. It doesn’t take much working out that Tia is at the “End of an Era”….the whole model is having to change.
We have always had 100% rate relief on the shops but come April we will have to find 36%, as well as everything else. So yesterday the 28th January we closed our doors.
Thankyou to all our supporters/ donaters and shoppers over all these years. It is very sad.
But don’t worry, I have a plan. I am not giving up on these dogs, no matter what it takes, or where it takes us.

We currently have a number of hounds in foster homes and received an update on how Cecil is doing.
Cecil has spent 3 weeks in foster now and I’m pleased to say we have had no issues with him and he is adapting to home life wonderfully. Cecil is house trained and sleeps through the night and is ok to be left as long as he has something to keep him busy, we’ve gone for using a Kong or his favourite teddy (which he carries around the house with him). Cecil loves his lunchtime walks and enjoys going to the park and playing with a tennis ball. Hes friendly with other dogs, doesn’t pay them much attention but I wouldn’t recommend him being rehomed with a small fury or a cat, oh and he LOVES squirrels, he gets very excited around them :’)
I’ve included some photos of him over the last week. His sleep troubles have stopped, he sleeps through the night now and hasn’t growled at us for a while, I’ve heard a few barks at Cali but nothing I am worried about. Cecil has a big personality; Hes very playful (already throwing his tedding around the room and making the squeaker squeak), he is very cuddly and chilled also. Hes such a fabulous dog. We’ve mastered the stairs fine and is happy jumping up and gets into the boot when he wants to. Hes fine with noises just isn’t too keen on the hoover. We tried crate training him but he was petrified of it, so we decided against it. Would maybe try again in a few weeks once he is settled and has a home routine.
Hes very inquisitive and active, which I think he would be suited to a more active family as he loves to be in the garden sniffing and investigating, but he isn’t hard work he has even started giving kisses.

We have had Rupert for ten days now. I didn’t want to put him up any sooner as we were very worried about him initially. Nothing that regular small meals of Chappie and a warm comfy bed, and of course extra cuddles from my fab kennel staff couldn’t sort. He won’t be available for adoption any time soon. He is chipped but the only details that are registered is that he is 6 years old. If only he could talk, he would me more interesting than most of the lovely people stalking this page…..Deb….ffs

These are some of the dogs that we have here at the kennels for rehoming, not all of them, but the majority.
All gorgeous and all waiting for their own sofas…

Sometimes the greyhounds arrive here quite nervous, bless them, so it’s lovely to see them in their new homes. They do need that extra time to help settle and once they do their character begins to shine through. Here’s Elliott, now known as Boone, settling into home life with the help of Sponsor Dog Boe!

Karen and Gary have been in touch with an update on former Tia girl Agnes (then known as ‘Wisp’) as it’s a year since they adopted her.
“After a few scary medical blips in the early days and diagnosis of a degenerative disc in her neck she recovered amazingly well and is just the most fantastic dog! She’s so comical, loving and full of fun and has brought so much love to our home. We just can’t imagine life without her!
I just wanted to thank you for introducing us to her and for the amazing work you do for all her fellow greyhounds.”
Great work Agnes!

It isn’t often that i name and shame the trainers, but i have decided to turn over a new leaf.
So this is the start of my several posts about the serial trainers, the ones who send their dogs to race at the local flapping track, knowing full well that they are past it, lame, lazy or just plain useless. But of course they will deny that. The favourite excuses? I sent them to a rehoming centre, i rehomed them as a pet, i kept them as a pet. It doesn’t matter how good or bad they were, they just get rid, the easiest, cheapest & quickest way.
So let’s start with the Nevin’s who race at Henlow. On a recent thread on Facebook the secretary of the English Stud Book said this about one of your dogs, Fieldview Franky, and I quote ” How he got to Tia is a bit of a mystery-after his racing career was finished Kirsty and Terry took him to be rehomed at a recognised rehoming kennel- it is very doubtful that he ever went to a flapping track……at times you do have to take what places like Tia say with a pinch ( or a bucket ) of salt….
So let’s start with ;
Fieldview Franky….25 races the last one being 20/03/20 arrived @ Tia 10/09/20
Tyra Lola….77 races the last one being 15/03/20 arrived @ Tia 10/09/20
Fieldview Zenna…. 14 races the last one being 8/03/20 arrived @ Tia 31/07/20
Ballymac Tower…19 races the last one being 11/05/21 arrived @ Tia 25/09/21
Desnas Dilemma….29 races the last one being 19/07/21 arrived @ Tia 6/09/21
Sullane Tempo….31 races the last being 31/07/21 arrived @ Tia 6/09/21
Fieldview Remy…123 races the last one being 29/08/21 arrived @ Tia 25/10/21
Holiday Fairy…51 races the last one being 2/11/21 arrived @ Tia 18/11/21
Store Floor….28 races the last one being 11/10/21 arrived & Tia 29/12/21
Jewel Rank….18 races the last one being 10/10/21 arrived @ Tia 6/1/22
So Viv, Elaine, Clare & Liz and of course the serial offenders….” Let us begin ”
