Whilst the temporary kennels are not up to our high standards, the dogs don’t know.

They have at least two meals a day, clean comfy beds and freshly cooked sausages or sausage rolls for supper, heating on overnight, staff & volunteers who love them to bits and they are safe.

We have 34 dogs here, 15 are over 10 years old and they are loved every minute of every day.

Thank you to everyone who sponsors, whether it is a dog, a kennel, or just by sending food.

Thank you….Deb

ps we will get there…

The amazing Olive (AKA Olly Pop) has been in foster with us for a couple of months. This amazing girl had a rough time. We picked her up from the pound when her time was up – scared, clueless and starving after spending quite a while on the streets. Olive has made massive amounts of progress and is improving every day. She responds to calm, positive but firm guidance and this has helped her to feel safe and learn how to be a dog. She’s pretty good with other dogs she meets and our two have really helped her learn how to play (she has been living with another grey and a lab). She sleeps through the night, no longer needing a crate. She’s pretty much house trained, walks well on a lead and is fine off lead with quite impressive recall – especially if you have a treat!  Olive absolutely loves being around people and has been helping my partner, a therapist, out at work, calming those she meets. She has learnt not to jump up and there is absolutely no malice in her whatsoever. Her desire for food at any cost has also reduced massively. We only feed her three times a day now, putting her bowl down and asking her to wait. She has finally realised that she gets fed and no longer eat anything she can get into!! She’s very clever and has learnt to wait at gates with the other dogs only going through when her name is called!  Olive will make the most loving companion for someone – I don’t think I’ve ever met a dog with such a big ❤️.

Olive…racing name NowYouSeeMe  just 3 years old.

Apple, Katie & Ivy

Apple, Katie & Ivy

Apple is the one on the right with the huge ears, she is around 5 years old.

Katie & Ivy are about 11 years old now.

They all came from good homes.

The can be sponsored all together or even sponsor their stable.

They can be rehomed, all together, if the right home comes along.

I’m not gonna lie  sometimes the bloody awful cruelty/indifference that comes with the racing industry can get you get you down and then you get an email like this, which is just wonderful.

Hello Deb,

Though I’m sure you won’t remember us, I thought you might remember our precious boy, Blaise (spelled Blaze at Tia) that we adopted from in 2018. Seeing as how many dogs are in your care at any given time, even if you don’t remember him that is just fine! As I often check the Tia website and read your news bulletins, I thought it might bring you and the staff at Tia some joy to read a little update about our sweet boy! My husband and I were living in North Yorkshire when we adopted Blaise and after a couple more wonderful years in the UK, the three of us moved home to Colorado in the U.S., where we have been ever since. From the moment we adopted Blaise, we instantly fell in love with him and we love him more and more everyday. He is goofy, sweet, and stubborn! Blaise has settled into his life in the U.S. very well.  He absolutely loves car rides (he’ll sleep, roaching upside down in the back seat while we drive), ice cream, and his daily walks three times a day during which he has to sniff every tree he comes in contact with . He has such a special bond with my husband and the two are thick as thieves. About two years ago, we adopted his brother, George a big black and white greyhound and the two of them together are so much fun.
Blaise is about to celebrate his 10th Birthday in April and he hasn’t slowed down one bit!
Since adopting Blaise, my passion for greyhounds has only grown. I am in such awe of their gentle nature and their resiliency.  With the horrid treatment they face on a daily basis, greyhound and galgo rescues such as Tia are so important and I have the utmost respect for the work you do to save and care for these majestic creatures.
Overall, I just wanted to thank you for rescuing Blaise. Our lives wouldn’t be the same without him! I have attached some pictures of Blaise and George.

William: Our crown jewel

William, a former Tia shire house, was rehomed to Operation Centaur – an organisation setup to promote horses as a contemporary working animal partnering with humans. This is usually in the form of heritage skills in conservation and agriculture, transportation, discovery, learning and therapy. Humans and horses alike work together sustainably, mainly in the privileged spaces of London’s Royal Parks and Historic Royal Palaces.

William can be seen in the video below preparing the soil at the Tower of London for the Moat in Bloom this summer!

Oh James

Oh James

He’s not well, my boy. I cant put my finger on it and he’s had blood tests that were all normal. He just not that interested in his food. A bit of this, a bit of that.
He must be at least 12 years old and despite rehoming 4 times he always wanted to come back to Tia. He was half dead mind when we got him in June 2018, chucked out of van in Doncaster. It was that really hot summer. He lived in the vet room for weeks. He loved it. Quiet and peaceful, the only visitors fetching food. He’s not well my boy, just can’t put my finger on it. He just looks a bit sad.
The Future of Tia

The Future of Tia

For those of you who bought a calendar this was on the back page. When I was writing it in July last year I had hoped by now we would be in a better place financially. We still haven’t received the legacy, although the solicitors have promised we will get some of it today. It is nearly two years since my friend died and she would have been furious if she’d have known it would have taken so long.

To date the Charity owes me and Bob around £50,000  which we have loaned the Charity.

We have always had to subsidies the Charity, as have a few good friends. I can’t remember the last time we had a day off, it’ll be over 18 months ago.  One of my good friends told me that if me and Bob didn’t work all the hours we do the Charity wouldn’t have ever been financially viable. We’ve always done it, for the animals, but I’m not going to lie, I’m getting very tired of all the hassle, the grief and the begging….

Hello
I’m looking to re home a little lurcher.
She came to be with me because she was dumped in the middle of the night next to the A1 near Pontefract. I live on a farm next to the A1 she came up to the house and woke us all up crying. Actually scared me have to death in the middle of the night. I thought it was wild foxes. She was picked up by the dog warden and taken to a local kennels and held to see if she had an owner.
Nobody came forward. We decided to try re home her. She was in bad shape no fur on her bottom missing teeth and sadly got kennel cough from the kennels. I’ve had her checked at the vets and treated for the cough.
Sadly it’s not working out. I have two dogs already both from the same litter and they are just not happy. One attacked her last week luckily she’s fine. Now I’ve rang a few places for see if they can help with no luck. I’d really like to avoid her going in kennels she didn’t do well when she was in kennels before.
I’d really appreciate some help. I really want this dog to have a lovely family. She deserves a lovely family. She’s scared and very timid with people and noise. The vet thinks she’s age 3 to 4.
