Brendan
This is Brendan, He is a lovely dog wanting his own sofa…He came up from Yorkshire last week with Sylvester.
Their owner, Jimmy Middleton, greyhound man, has sadly passed away. He was one of the first trainers I ever met at Askern.

THIS AWFUL WOMAN IS AT SCARBOROUGH MAGISTRATES COURT ON TUESDAY 18TH APRIL 2PM.
Whatever they do will never be enough…how the hell do you walk out of kennels, shut the door and not go back? Those poor dogs must have suffered so much…starving to death waiting for someone to come back.
I have been thinking about this for a long time and I can’t keep it under wraps anymore.
When Askern track closed on the 23rd September last year there were over 400 people in attendance. I’m sure there were lots of happy memories and wonderful tales of how it used to be, in the day.
The night however was over shadowed by the absolute horror that a greyhound trainer had walked away from her dogs. She had literally stopped feeding them and left them to die.
This was posted on a greyhound forum…. Local authority stepped in over welfare concerns regarding sheffield trainer rebecca perkins greyhounds, dont know the full details but the gbgb were forced to step in and put the dogs elsewhere, most at sheffield knew she was struggling on her own, why was help not offered to rebecca ? Why did the gbgb stewards not spot the signs during regular visits ? Why did sheffield management fail to offer help ?
The vets where they were taken were horrified, some dogs had to be put to sleep, some needed intensive treatment.
The dogs, I believe were taken in by York rspca and hopefully a prosecution will follow.
I flagged this vile woman up over 20 years ago. This industry will never change. They have had decades to sort out the welfare of their dogs and they simply can’t do it. We are all watching you….
