Susie

Susie

Big Time Vicky was her racing name and has been here since February. She doesn’t get any offers of a home. Not like the pretty, coloured greyhounds. Well all I can say Susie, is that it is there loss and our gain, you are a pleasure to have around. You are crackers, you run like the wind and you are the best cuddle monster…

However Susie would love to be out in the world and have her own sofa…she’s heard all about that life and would now like the opportunity…She will make someone, very happy.

Nothing has changed

Nothing has changed..

One has to wonder how on earth does an ex greyhound trainer – who once trained a champion dog that was later found dumped in an emaciated and in a severley neglected condition – manage to secure the position of Director of operations for Battersea Dogs Home?
Picture – Velvet Rebel once trained by Peter Laurie and present CEO of the Retired Greyhound Trust – found abandoned in dreadful condition. Rescued by Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue and now enjoying a safe and loving life 🙂
EDIT: Peter Laurie was not the last trainer or breeder to exploit Velvet Rebel – the dog was passed on to Charles Lister OBE and then a breeder. Regardless – Peter Laurie still earned money from this dog and still supports a racing/gambling industry that is responsible for the suffering and deaths of thousands of dogs every year.
Velvet Rebel has since passed away after years in a loving home.

Also 3 years ago today..

When we get a call from the stray kennels, it’s always a mystery as to how the dogs have ended up there.
This little girl, now called Spiggie, came off one of the usual suspects. Notorious for rehoming/retiring/giving away free to good homes and generally dumping his dogs on anyone who will take them…
They have been exposed so many times for the state of their kennels, they even made the Sunday papers on one occasion – https://www.express.co.uk/…/Dog-kennels-branded-disgusting
So now i have his attention…
Tenasywiskytrish bn 12/10/2017 raced at Belle Vue until June of this year…
So when said trainer emailed me a few weeks ago wanting to swap kennels i was speechless really as to his continuing stupidity. I don’t have the words.
He wanted to swap his hovel in Ormskirk, that isn’t worth as much as this place just so he can be nearer to the track he is now racing at, after the closure of Belle Vue..
And just to be clear, she didn’t have an envelope around her neck when she was found straying in Bradford, with the £400 bond from the Greyhound Retirement Scheme…she didn’t qualify for that either…
Welcome to Tia, Spiggie…”Not a Hovel”

Photographers needed

I am going to be updating the website soon with dogs that are in desperate need of homes, that are still in trainers kennels. These are trainers that I have known for years and they generally aren’t good with technology and they do admit it themselves.

There are thousands of dogs backing up in kennels all over the country.

Is there anyone near Blackburn, Nottingham and Ripley in Derbyshire that can go and get me some decent pictures so we can start getting these dogs rehomed…
Thanks Deb

Ps Now sorted.

Logan

Logan

The very, very beautiful sponsor dog Logan. He is and always has been a very nervous dog but he is happy with his lot at Tia…

Look!!

Look!!

I know some people may not find this very interesting, but here at Tia we think it’s amazing..

We have to wait for 5 weeks for the resin floor, but we can crack on with the rest of the internals…

The dogs WILL be in for Xmas…..

A Pipe Dream

In an ideal world this would be our rehoming centre and the farm here in Scotland would be the sanctuary for all the greyhounds no one else wants.
With the big charities screaming out for a ban and for greyhound racing to be fazed out in the next 5 years where will all the dogs go?
We don’t have assessment tests like other charities and we don’t take the hush money, Greyhound Retirement Scheme bond, like a lot who have jumped on the financial bandwagon..
If anyone wins the lottery please buy it, for Tia…

Week 2

The guys from Nethy steel have worked really hard these last 2 weeks.

The concrete floor will be in this week and then we have to wait a month before the resin can go down. In the meantime the inside of the building will be cladded.

I’m hoping the dogs will be in by Xmas but there will be all the internals, plumbing and electrics to do aswell.

If anyone wants to come up and help please get in touch…We do have a few volunteers pencilled in already.

Thanks Deb
