Great old fella who needs a taste of paradise before the bridge. Ten years old in a few months though you wouldn’t know it and has an eyes for the ladies. Percy arrived here a few days ago and thinks everything is hilarious. Nice neighbours and the foods epic! We think he has always been kenneled by himself so we are looking for a special greyhound savvy home.
Big lemon at 32 kgs. We would be thrilled to see him on a sofa.

Church St Millie bn 8th September 2019.
She last raced at Doncaster on the 29th April 2023.
50 races she had under her belt, including 9 firsts and 7 seconds. Not a bad career.
True to form she ended up on the streets in South Yorkshire and ended up at Cliffe kennels. She had a week there and was picked up by Glencoe’s mom and dad on Tuesday 19th March.
Today, Sunday the 24th March she has bagged herself a new home. One where she will be safe and loved for the rest of her life.
Thanks to everyone, again…
I have been typing the same story for the past 28 years…
Still, there isn’t a problem with the racing industries there??

Pure eye candy. Steer was quite frankly magnificent.
A wonderful sponsor dog who eventually found his place in the world on the sofa of two special people. To our amazement he took to it like a duck to water. He came to live at our expense about five years ago. A bundle of nerves and had he got loose would have run himself into the ground until he collapsed. Steer was far safer with us and used to hide at the back of the pen in case he was noticed.
Last August he went down the drive to a superb home, quickly filling the hole left by another sponsor Boe. We would like to thank his Mum & Dad for giving him a chance and providing him with a well deserved taste of honey. His mom and dad are reeling from the pain and so are we.
He fell ill this week and deteriorated quickly. We lost him today and his mom and dad are devastated. Tia would also like to thank his loyal band of supporters.
This is so bitterly unfair.

James has just clocked off his final shift. Tia never knew how old he really was. That’s the trouble with lurchers and frankly we don’t know how his girl will cope. Kiah lives for him as he did her. We knew it was coming but that doesn’t make it any easier. His story is best told in his own words (sort of).
“It was May 2018 when they threw me out of a van in Doncaster. I remember it was blazing hot and I was running in the fields for what seemed like days.”
“Three days I slept when I came to Tia, three whole days. You said you didn’t know if I was going to make it. I did hear you even though I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I took your tablets and ate the food. The vet room is a lovely quiet place.”
“So, you’ve rehomed me 4 times now. Which bit of I want to live at Tia don’t you understand?!”
We threw in the towel. James has been part of the furniture ever since. A tough as teak lamper who relished looking after us all and particularly excelled as office dog. James must have watched hundreds of dogs go out through the door and promptly snuggled back into Kiah’s neck in case some idiot had any more bright ideas. His world was Kiah and Tia and that was enough for James.
More than enough. Sleep tight big fella…

Russanda Ripley Open Class racer.. A very good dog. Russanda Ripley was born in December 2015, he was born at a trainers, who had and still have a huge racing strength and are probably still breeding greyhound puppies. He was no doubt running about the paddocks next to another litter which included Russanda Capri, Maha, our beautiful sponsor dog. Whilst Maha was absolutely useless and was given away by her trainer, at only 19 months old, to live on an allotment and make up numbers at Askern Greyhound stadium, the independent track that is now closed. She would have been classed as a card filler. A year later she was given to Tia, even that guy know how useless she was. No wonder she was traumatised and still is to be honest. In the meantime Ripley had an outstanding career, an Open Class dog, one of the best. He notched up 73 races, his last one being on the 3rd August 2020. This boy was retired to a rescue centre in Barnsley. They tried there best with him for over two years. He was rehomed 3 times. Each time the owners were told not to have him on the bed, each time the owners ignored the advice, each time he snapped at them when they disturbed his sleep, his dreaming of winning again interrupted by a stray elbow or foot. So he was destined to be destroyed but thankfully they rang here….He does guard his bed, but as long as he is off it he is no bother at all. Ripley is one of those dogs who still wants to be racing. He is lost. Can he be rehomed? Absolutely. To the right person who respects this dog for his achievements and not use him as a teddy bear or comfort blanket.

A payroll giving scheme is an easy, tax-efficient way of donating through your salary.
Payroll Giving, also known as Give As You Earn, is an easy, convenient and tax-effective way to make a regular donation, so it costs you less to give more.
With Payroll Giving you can donate to the Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue straight from your gross salary (before tax is deducted) giving immediate tax relief on your donations.
Anyone who pays UK tax through PAYE can donate through Payroll Giving.
How much can I donate?
If you choose to donate through Payroll Giving, you have full control over how much you would like to give. There is no minimum, or maximum amount.
If you pay the basic 20% tax rate, for every £1 that you earn, 20p is paid in tax.
That means if you pledge £10 a month, we’ll receive the full amount but only £8 will be deducted from your net pay.
If you pay income tax at the higher rate of 40%, you can pledge £10 a month and only £6 will be deducted from your net pay, and at the highest rate of 45%, only £5.50 would be deducted.
Plus, it is more efficient for higher rate taxpayers to donate through Payroll Giving than Gift Aid as charities are unable to claim back tax above the basic rate through the Gift Aid scheme.
The income tax applicable to the donation is paid to the Tia Rescue instead of HMRC.

Donating to the Tia Rescue with Payroll Giving
The first step is to check with your employer to make sure that your company offers Payroll Giving. If they do, they will arrange your donation through your salary for you.
If your employer does not currently offer Payroll Giving, you can write to them and encourage them to set one up. To set up a Payroll Giving scheme, your organisation will need to register with an approved Payroll Giving agency.
If your circumstances change and you want to change or cancel your donation at any time, simply tell your employer. If you change your job, your donations will not be transferred to your new employer, so you will need to start a new Payroll Giving scheme with them.

Rossmore Dazzler bn 13.06.2020
Irish Coursing Champion.
Lovely big dog.
No doubt he fell out of favour, got a bit old, a bit slow.
Around 3 weeks ago he landed in England and 2 weeks later he ended up in the stray kennel after been found straying in West Yorkshire. Fortunately for this lad, we still work with the kennels and here he is in a foster home after doing his time in the pound.
A whirlwind time he has had, he must wonder what on earth is going on…
Welcome Patrick…
Let’s hope their is someone out there who will adopt this beautiful boy…and thanks again to foster parents for stepping in…..
