With the greyhound industry in serious trouble, wouldn’t it be great if we had a rehoming centre back in Yorkshire.

I know of one trainer, just one of many who has over 200 dogs. Around 90 of them aren’t racing, they are just stuck in trainers kennels..

If only we had financial backing….we could do so much more good.

Odin

Odin

Where to start with this lad. I could slate the owners and the fact that he was in a driving team at the Royal Highland Show, but what is the point. Nothing will change.

I didn’t even want to go to the show but we needed a couple of nights away from here.

The first picture is of him in the stables at the show last Thursday. The next 2 pictures when he landed here Sunday night….Thanks Isla for transporting him.

And the next ones of him today, Tuesday, out in the field for the first time. He is so scared even the sound of the phone made him jump. He is a massive, almost skeletal 4 year old Clydesdale. Lets just hope we can get him right. He is available for sponsorship.

Welcome to Tia big lad…

Kenny, Thor & Zorro

Kenny, Thor & Zorro

Just a pony update…Zorro, Thor & Kenny all came in today for some spoiling…all originally from the death field in Wroot.

Little Kenny came to us at 2 weeks old. He was stood by his dead mother for days before we took him…oops, sorry that was me…

Thor was also stood by his dead mother for a fortnight, he was around 5 months old when we got him. He came with Zorro who was around the same age, he was fitting in the field, his mouth and flesh rotting away. Both had liver failure and we were advised to put them to sleep. Thor made a full recovery but Zorro still has liver damage. They are now 7yrs old.

Have a look at the video….it’s lovely….Deb

Sadie

Sadie

Sadie is just coming up 4 years old. She has been in a home for the past 11 months. She has been returned as they are having a baby. To be honest she isn’t the same dog that we rehomed. Her nerves are shot.

She would be best going to live with another dog to regain her confidence.

Interesting but upsetting reading.

Interesting but upsetting reading.

I know that a lot of people aren’t interested in this stuff, but these are some of the people I’ve dealt with over the years. Please click on the link, page 5 onwards.
There is a disciplinary here on Rebecca Perkins. It makes for horrendous reading, but please don’t think it’s a one off.
Also featured is Mick Foley who desperately tried to get Mill Race off us, in one way or another and Troy Bedford who Lola the blue girl featured below was given away by all though years ago to churn out lurchers on an allotment.
There are thousands of greyhounds out there that are in perilous conditions. All of which the GBGB are trying to keep the lid on….
One day the lid will come off…Deb
Rocco

Rocco

This was Rosshill Rocco bn Jan 2021 in his prime…..

Not a lot of thanks he got did he Anthony Upton? GBGB Trainer.

Don’t worry, they know he is safe with us.

This was the original post..

Urgent foster home needed for Rocco. He is 3 years old and has been in a home for a few months but doesn’t really like all the attention that he is getting from the little human person in the house. The trainer has said he will take him back and put him to sleep. The owners do not want that and just want him to get another home with no little people…
He is currently in Rochdale. If a foster home isn’t found he will come up here, but ideally he needs rehoming down there.
From his foster mom..
The handsome Rocco is looking for his forever home. He is 3 years old and house trained. He’s a big softie loves cuddles actually smiles lol. Can be quite strong on the lead. Make a lovely couch pooch 💙💙 he responds very well to attention 💙💙

Turbo & Rascal

Turbo & Rascal

Turbo & Rascal came here on the 18th May, kindly fetched up by a volunteer.

These 10 year old brothers have been kept on allotment for years, prior to that at Askern dog track. I have dealt with their owner for years. He paid for them to be kept on the allotment £100 a month. The allotments have to remove all the animals by August. Of course I said we would help.

Both are not castrated, Turbo was peeing blood. Has he given Tia a donation? Not a penny. Thanks Chris, you are a diamond……Not.

These 2 boys have to go together, how they would love to explore the Scottish Highlands..

Lola

Lola

 Lola..
She has Jeremy ears for those who have lasted the distance. Her connections should hang their heads in shame over this little girl.
Lindrick Loner. dob 22.3.16.
More guts and tenacity in her paw than most of the block put together.
Lola was discovered on an allotment quite by chance.  Of course we said yes, and Lola, made the journey to Inverness the following day with Percy, thanks to yet another proper person.
Lola was born in Ireland and raced at Doncaster and Sheffield a staggering 120 times. In spite of being able to fit into your top pocket, Lola brought home the bacon on twenty six of those runs and came a close second in a further twenty two. Game as a pebble and frequently showing a clean pair of heels to much bigger racers. All they ever saw of her was her backside fading away in the distance.
A sofa and a happy end to her was denied and it is possible that she spent the next three years churning out diverse lurchers. There is no record of her having a greyhound litter and Lola was kept there for a purpose. As a tiny blue girl, there would have been no shortage of adopters fighting over her and our kennels were not that far away. Why the hell didn’t they bring her to us.
Lola isn’t exactly brimming with vitality. Her nerves are in shreds and she is beaten down. Shabby and scabby, teeth are horrendous but her depression is giving us the most concern for now. We think she will be OK with a good dose of TLC,  and perhaps go on to her long overdue reward of a home.  We’ve got you Lola, it’s going to be okay.
This shouldn’t have happened.
