Dogs, Old and New

We have so many old dogs.

Tarzan, Uriah & Lana in the house aren’t good. They are all over 12 years old, all like hat racks, but all refusing to give up their lavish lifestyle. Bungle, one of the Sheffield 13, has never been right. He has always had a bladder problem which is getting worse. Hubble has kidney disease, but with prescription food he is stable. Maha has recovered well from nearly losing her 2 months ago with pancreatitis.  She too is on prescription diet.

Three weeks ago, we nearly lost Langley. He collapsed and couldn’t see properly. He came into the large dog kennel/house. The vet and Nairn pet crem were booked, but the next day he was really trying to stay. He is doing good but there is something festering.

Then out of the blue, well not really, I had her bloods checked this week…Tinkerbell. The bloods came back fine but yesterday she was not. I don’t know if she has slipped on this bloody awful resin floor, hence all the requests for carpet. Or if she has taken a tumble in the paddocks. Anyhow Bob was up with her every 2 hours and she is a bit better today.

As always, all Tia dogs get anything they need. And me and Bob will be with them at the end.

Remember you can sponsor any of these dogs for just £52 a year or £26 for six months here. It really does make a huge difference.

We’ve also been very busy rehoming over the past few weeks, and we have some reserved too. There will be a full update soon, but in the meantime, here are Turbo & Rascal heading off back down to West Yorkshire. Lovely, very lucky old boys…

Turbo and Rascal, before setting off (L), settled (R)

And the beautiful puppy Izzy who has been rehomed up here… gorgeous, just gorgeous.

Malcolm

Malcolm

Malcolm (Never you mind)

d.o.b. 12.09.16

Last raced in Sept 2018 at Sunderland and then disappeared off the planet.  Probably been flapping until his owners finished with him and dumped him in a wood.

Arrived at Tia in March 2022 from the stray kennel, a bit moth-eaten and thin. Malcolm’s teeth were atrocious.

UPDATE; January 2025  Malcolm fell ill, he began to lose weight. He has had lots of tests and it’s been discovered that he has a problem with his blood. He is on medication and he is on borrowed time.

He is seriously enjoying his trips to the beach with the other oldies….keep going big lad…

Socks

Socks

Socks (Titanic Socks)

d.o.b. 20/5/2020

Friendly lad who finished racing just over a year ago. Fills the eye don’t you think, a beautiful tuxedo greyhound. Not a bad end of term report either with ten wins to his credit.

Eleanor – Now Rehomed

Eleanor – Now Rehomed

Eleanor (Salacres Eleanor)

born June 2022

Tiny girl. Her racing career is nothing to be ashamed of. Two wins out of seven races and a respectable rating to finish. Her sister has just taken two Open’s and is well on her way to a great career.

Beautiful blue little girl.  Might be a bit of a scramble for this girl.

Eleanor can be seen in Nottingham with her trainer.

Pal (Ripley)

Pal (Ripley)

Beautiful, beautiful, dog.  Pal won 9 out of his 90 races but signalled that he didn’t want to do it anymore. Pal last raced two months ago, finishing last in a rough competition. It really was the final straw for him. He is about 30 kgs so not too big.

Still at Ripley Derbyshire with his trainer.

Please ring Deb.

Oola – In Foster

Oola – In Foster

Oola (Ballinaboola Oola)

born 11/12/2022

Calm, steady and far too bright to consider a career in racing for heaven’s sake. Oola has finished last in every trial apart from one, when she raced alone. Even then there was some doubt! The lady can be viewed at Doncaster. Just a baby.

We love this sort at Tia.

Oola is clearly destined for greater things like a sofa. Please ring Deb if you are interested.

Buster (Doncaster)

Buster (Doncaster)

Buster (Busted Flash)

born 2/9/2020

Nice calm dog, currently kennelled with the lovely Oola (don’t even think about it mate).  Buster hasn’t too many races on the clock and his retirement hasn’t exactly left the Derby betting wide open!

Still at least he made it to the track and tucked four wins under his belt. Glittering career really when compared to his girlfriend.

Currently still with his trainer in Doncaster.

Please get in touch with Deb if interested before he bores Oola to death. “I’m by Kinloch Brae you know”

Jack (now rehomed)

Jack (now rehomed)

Jack (One Eye Jack)

born October 2020

Somebody, somewhere, please give this over-friendly lad a better name.

Jack finished lame four weeks ago at Doncaster. His form had fallen off of late anyway.  His right eye is smaller than normal, but it didn’t stop him from winning 12 of his 95 races. Possibly blind.

He is still in Doncaster with his trainer and the one dog there that really needs a sofa and a human.

Jackson (Doncaster)

Jackson (Doncaster)

Jackson (Ryecroft Apollo)

born November 2019

Gives kisses. Do you need to know more?

Took twelve of his races over two years so more than earned his keep. Beaten by 0.03 in his final race by a slip of a girl five kilos lighter than him.

Street cred shattered; he hasn’t stepped foot on a track since.

“We had the pleasure of taking this gorgeous boy out to a local park today and he was such a gentleman. He travelled well in the car, laying down for the journey and seemed totally unphased by anything he saw at the park, including other dogs and a horse. Jackson really seemed to enjoy the change of scenery and took everything in his stride, walking calmly on his lead.

He is so affectionate and when we stopped for a rest/photos he gave us his famous kisses and then was just happy to have a sniff and watch the world go by! His trainer says he loves everyone and is also good with kids.”

Needs a change of luck. In Doncaster so please ring Deb for more details.

Four

Four

Four (Plus Four)

d.o.b. 24/5/2021

Like some of us at Tia, needs his roots doing! Just a young lad. Four (the name has to go) is scared of the world and everything in it. Needs a sympathetic soul to show him a brighter side to life.

His nerves haven’t stopped him showing a clean pair of heels and five races are nothing to be ashamed of. Last graced a track back in April and has been waiting for his family to show up ever since.

In Doncaster still. Please ring Deb, it would be lovely to see him with his own Xmas stocking.
