It’s very sad but we had to say our goodbyes to Matilda on Monday evening, peacefully, with the help of a great vet and her humans at her side.
Osteosarcoma is nasty and aggressive and even Matilda with all her determination and stoicism could only fight it for a short time.
We miss our morning snuggles in her bed and all the different looks she gave when she wanted you to do something for her, “is that steak going spare?”, “I could do with a neck scratch”, the paw for more, the head nudge, the lean, the harrumph. We already miss her presence, the counterbalance she brought to a crazy world.
The gentlest of souls, but we all knew (especially Max our other greyhound) that she was the boss.
TIA’s Poster girl, calendar girl (twice), loved by everyone she met and protector and mentor of Max, who is a bit lost at the moment.
We are heartbroken, but not far underneath the grief is a smile and a glow of happiness, she lived 12 ½ years and 7 of those with us and 6 months loved and restored to health at TIA Rescue beforehand. She made her own luck by her trust and her determination to overcome her fears.
Her indomitable spirit will live within us and inspire us forever.
Rest in Peace sweetheart. Much loved and forever in our hearts.

About Me
“It was May 2018 when they threw me out of a van in Doncaster. I remember it was blazing hot and I was running in the fields for what seemed like days.”
“Three days I slept when I came to Tia, three whole days. You said you didn’t know if I was going to make it. I did hear you even though I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I took your tablets and ate the food. The vet room is a lovely quiet place.”
“So, you’ve rehomed me 4 times now. Which bit of I want to live at Tia don’t you understand?!”
“So this is the thing….do not rehome me again. I want to be one of those sponsor dogs….”
Oh James…. welcome to the fold!
Nearly 5 years James has now been under the care of Tia. He is showing his age and has given us a scare recently. He is a lovely old boy, no bother. He loves his safe life and the fresh Scottish air.
James and Kiah, although they have their own kennels are inseparable…

About Me
Llewin Potter dob 27.10.2011
Harper was racing down at Romford until September 2015. He has been here since March 2016 and been rehomed once with a fantastic Tia supporter, however his main aim in life was trying to drag her neighbours dog through the fence. In his youth he was a sod with other dogs but loves his life at Tia. He is the noisiest dog in the kennels and probably the softest. He is also the second oldest, coming up 12 years old in November.
Harper had an untreated wrist injury, which is causing him discomfort in his own age.

About me
Plan Impact. dob 1.7.2013
Michael came to us at 3 years old absolutely bald. It has taken a long time to get on top of his skin condition, but he is now fit and well and happy at Tia. His favourite time at day is when he is out in the paddocks waiting for any of the farm vehicles to go past so he can give chase and shout loudly.
Micheal was rehomed once, but he picked on the resident male and it didn’t end well. He was in a bit of a state and was fetched back home to Tia. He was so relieved to get back home, it’s quite sad really.
He is coming up 10 years old.
