Annie

Annie

Annie (Rapido Annie)

born November 21

Followed Will (Chasing Willibee) into fourth place a year ago, which should tell you how dire the race was. Only a week before, Annie had justified her favouritism by winning in some style. Perhaps the poppet had decided enough was enough.  Annie won seven races which is astonishing considering her tiny frame.Annie is a bit unsure of life and needs her hand holding for a bit. Friendly little girl once she gets to know you, just needs to be sure. Her significant other is Boost who also benefits from her company.

Probably best rehomed with a calm dog.

Annie has now moved up to Nairn to increase her chances of a home. More when we know a bit more about her.

Welcome miss!

Duchess

Duchess

Duchess (Flashing Duchess)

born August 23

There is a rumour that her mother is out looking for her to come in for tea. Just turned two and already out of the game. Cheeky, full of confidence and walks like a supermodel.  Duchess made the mistake of winning first time out and her connections got excited. The tiny minx soon wised up and was benched five races later.

Bravo Duchess, bravo.

Jane

Jane

Jane (Tomahurra Jane)

born Jul 22

Much as we would like to tell you about her final race we cannot. Jane last raced on Boxing Day in heavy fog and probably stopped off for a turkey sandwich at the fourth bend. Frankly the race should not have taken place.

She trialled again in April but failed to meet the cut. Jane is a plain little scrap without a spicy backstory. Jane promises not to take up much room as she is a sylphlike 27kgs.  The young lass is still a baby yet managed three wins, three more than her mother managed. Dad held the track record at Newbridge for five minutes though so that is something.

Jane is your typical girl next door – sweet & friendly, sensible & straightforward. She walks nicely on her lead and has never had a cross word with anyone or anything. Ready for her family to show up as she has been practicing snogs long enough.

Her whole life is ahead of her.

Rolo

Rolo

Rolo (Redbrick Rolo)

born Oct 21

Described as soft as Oat. Delightful. Four attempts to get his career started to no avail, Rolo has been lozzicking at his trainers expense since March 24.

Playful, sweet and first to give a cuddle. There won’t be a dry eye in the house when he leaves.

“Rolo has been in foster for less than 2 weeks and has settled into homelife super well, he is a very affectionate boy and a people person, who likes to make sure he can see us when he knows we are around. He has been clean in the house from day one, he immediately knew to go outside to toilet, he had one or two accidents when the door wasn’t left open for him, but he is learning that we will come and let him out.

At night, he has been sleeping in our bedroom at the side of the bed as he is happier being near us and sleeps all night when he is. On the odd time he has needed the toilet in the night, he has let us know.

Rolo travels well, lays down in the car and likes to look out of the back window as we drive along.  Teaching him to jump into the car is a work in progress, but it’s still very early days.

Rolo has been living with 2 other greyhounds, a male and female, and has been great with them. He likes to be around them both and they will all often play together in the garden.  Having come direct from kennels, Rolo is a little unsure of other breeds and can get excited when he sees them. He has had a couple of larger breed dogs approach him off-lead and has shown no issues. As with most Greyhounds, his socialisation with other breeds is a work in progress but he is showing all the signs that he will be fine.  Other breeds are understandably very interesting to him at the moment and he can get excited on the lead when they go past him, he just wants to follow them.  Rolo will bark at other dogs if they bark at him first but does nothing more.

Rolo LOVES cuddles and being fussed.  He also loves “borrowing” things!  Anything from socks and slippers to the TV remote and my glasses, he just takes them to his bed, it’s an adorable trait! He doesn’t chew things up or wreck anything, he can put his paws up on the counter but doesn’t take food or items from the kitchen sides. Rolo loves his walks and playing with Oscar. He is totally obsessed with himself, he loves seeing his own reflection in the windows, oven and TV! He is a nosey hound, who likes to put his paws up on the windowsill to watch the neighbours walk past!

Rolo is fine being left for a couple of hours. He paces for a couple of minutes and then gets in bed, saying that he does prefer to be around his humans.  If we had to sum Rolo up in one sentence we’d say, “he is an absolute dream” who would suit a first time Greyhound or dog owner, providing they had done some research about the breed.  We think Rolo could live happily with another sighthound or as an only dog”.

Boost (Reserved)

Boost (Reserved)

Boost (Redbrick Boost)

born Oct 21

Quiet enough fellow. Enough brains to know when and how to quit the ring. Boost won four races but frankly we don’t think his heart was in it. Just another black dog, sitting in his kennel awaiting a family to overlook his colour. Not too big at 31 kgs. Boost is the last of the family to be rehomed and has moved up to Scotland to see if he can attract some interest.

Boost is a quiet and friendly boy who walks calmly on his lead. Boost would benefit from being rehomed with a female Greyhound. We will be able to assess him once he has settled. Although the facilities seem to have met with his approval and the food is epic..

He has been waiting a year now. Time he was gone.
Cracking looking fellow.

Henry (Scotland)

Henry (Scotland)

Henry (Battletime)

Born June 2019

Henry has been waiting for his family to show up for eighteen months. We are told he would be a great family dog. He isn’t as big as the some of the other males but made up for it in courage. Twenty-four wins is nothing to be sniffed at. His colour is against him as is his age.

Henry is a little poppet with a gorgeous face.  He’s very small for a boy.  So small in fact that we had to go back to the car (when he wasn’t looking!) and get the harness we normally reserve for the girls!  Henry is very affectionate and friendly.  He stood calmly when we put his harness on and walked beautifully on his lead, never pulling once.  Henry isn’t a nervous boy, but he does like to “check in” with you on a walk, which is very sweet.  We passed a collie whilst walking Henry and despite the collie barking, all Henry did was prick up his ears and look with interest.  A really, lovely boy who his trainer tells us is brilliant with kids”.

A lovely lovely type.
