When the lockdown started in March of last year the councils were really good at paying the grants out for the shops. We got £10,000 per shop…for Armthorpe, Pickering, Hebden Bridge and Halifax. Obviously it was a massive help and enabled us to keep the shops and to pay the rents.
We have struggled on as usual and when the shops shut again in November we received a further grant for £1334 for each shop….
We have never received this grant from Calderdale council for the Hebden Bridge shop, although the other three shops were paid.
When the 3rd lockdown came in January we were promised further grants for each shop for £6001 per shop. As we are already in receipt of the grants it should have been given to us automatically.
Armthorpe has been granted as has Pickering. We have received partial payment for Halifax and nothing for Hebden Bridge.
So basically Calderdale council owes Tia Rescue, a registered struggling charity £9,336.00
Yes i have resorted to putting this online as it is proving impossible by other means…

When me and my mom came to Tia in August 2016 we were so fat and crippled with laminitis that we had to go straight onto a diet.
It’s hard having laminitis because all you want to do is eat, but it is the eating that causes the problems.
It’s also really hard when that is all you have done all your life.
Mom was 16 yrs old and i was 10yrs old so as you can imagine we had done a lot of eating, lovely green lush grass…
Our feet were also shocking as we had never seen a farrier. We got to know the farrier very well, he’s here every 6 weeks…but after four and a half years i’ve had enough.
I died today…
Before the vet came i had a massive bucket full of carrots and feed and i stood out in the sunshine stuffing my face with lovely grass…
I am not in pain anymore…

Early in 2016, a black greyhound girl was found straying on the A1 and eventually brought to Tia for rehoming. We named her Curley, her notes read ‘fleas and sores’. We knew whose hands she had fallen into from an old advert, a man responsible for many a walking hat-rack arriving at Tia.
When she had recovered, Curley went up for rehoming and went off to live happily ever after with her new family. Atta girl Curley, you deserved a change of luck.
Days after Curley left us (without a backward glance it has to be said!), her daughter was brought in having been found straying. To our surprise she was claimed and had to leave us. That is the law. She looked alright to be fair but we took note of the earmarks etc and that was that.
Curleys daughter turned up again this week after an absence of four years. Her nails and teeth are a disgrace and as you can see she is terrified.
Don’t bother calling Dave, she is staying put. The faster men like you are out of racing the better.

As usual, we are a bit late.
Thank you, to all our volunteers, staff, trustees, sponsors, accountants, webpage people, Donaldsons, farriers, lottery participators, photographers, supporters, carrot suppliers, Facebook likers, Easyfundraiser clickers, Amazon charity nominators, pickerupfromtrainers/pounds/vets/anywhere really. Charity shoppers, dog walkers, Saturday girls, tipperoffers of dogs in peril, Ebay managers, Dog pounds, poo baggers, those who let us know how their dogs are doing, Trudy, watchers of forums (once was enough), any business that gives us a discount, Fosters, Reiki practioners, tin rattlers, will bequesters, annual coffee morning fundraisers, calendar buyers, envelope stuffers, animal feed stores who made sure there was enough for Tia put by (special thanks) and last but by no means least, the backroom boys and girls. Anyone in fact who comes to our aid, helps out or spreads the word.
The list is woefully incomplete. Some words don’t even exist! Every gesture keeps Tia on the road. The calendar going out with a sponsor flyer raised an extra 65 sponsors in the past month. Fantastic result. We also raised £4580 on the 2 hampers. Astounding successes and a special thank you to the long suffering team who pulled it all together hours before the deadline. I really put you through it, this year.
Tia is still here after this god awful year thanks to your incredible generosity. Four tracks closed this year and the breeding numbers have fallen off a cliff. There are many straws in the wind regarding a few trainers. We will be ready.
We simply couldn’t continue without your help.
