A thank you
Followers of the FB page will have read about April Stewart, who ran the London Marathon for Tia Rescue and Samaritans a few weeks ago.
She raised £2,058 in total, smashing her £750 target.
A massive well done on a fantastic achievement, and of course a huge thank you.
Old dogs… creaky joints
With so many old dogs and dogs that have old injuries, we use Riaflex joint supplement daily. We have run out.
If anyone would like to order us some we think direct from Riaflex is the cheapest. Langley (above) and the rest of our veritable pensioners would be very grateful.
Fundraising Auctions – Items Needed
We are looking to hold a future fundraising auction for Tia, and are in need of donated items. All items considered; footwear, clothing, ornaments, pictures, greyhound related goods, or perhaps you have a talent to create something special?
If you think this is something you may be able to donate to please email Jess at jessm@tia-rescue.org.

3. Items for the tombola.
4. Volunteers to help on the stalls.
Please feel to free to drop off items at the farm; we can also collect.
If you can help, please get in touch at 07974 960684.
Hope and Faith
Meet Hope (black) and Faith (fawn). Followers of the FB page will already be acquainted with these two.
When these photos were taken, they didn’t even have names, and their future was uncertain.
Now look at them; they have settled very quickly into their foster families, and are ready to be rehomed!
Hope is small greyhound size. Like a typical greyhound, she seems quite lazy and loves sleeping, cuddles and belly rubs. Faith is thought to be a Saluki Lurcher; inquisitive and full of energy, but loves to cuddle and lay on you.
Both girls are around 2 years old, and need to be moving on to their next chapter as soon as possible. Please contact Deb on 07974 960684 (daytime) if you can offer either girl a home. A minimum donation of £350 is requested to adopt any of our hounds.
Tia Dog Vests
Some more of our beautiful Tia hounds showing off their new vests.
If you like to order one, please email Jess at jessm@tia-rescue.org.
Snootiful Hound
Snootiful Hound creates products just for greyhounds and other sighthound breeds.
Because of this focus, they are able to tailor their products to meet the unique needs of these dogs, most notably with their 3 strap harness for sighthounds, which is designed to be escape proof. They also sell a range of martingale collars, leads and more.
They have pledged to donate 20% of all sales to Tia Rescue, if you use the code TIARESCUE at checkout. Customers will also receive 10% off each order when using the code.
Tia Stall at Knaresborough Pets Day 5th May
On Bank Holiday Monday 5th May, we will be having a stall at Knaresborough Pets Day Dog Show. It’s a lovely day out with many animal charity stalls, refreshments and displays, as well as the fun dog show. Do come along and support us. It will be in the grounds of Knaresborough House, right in the town centre.
Tarzan – A day we have been dreading
Tarzan (Rusheen Bouler)
10/7/2011 – 24/04/2025
One look at him was enough. He calmly returned our gaze. We tore up the plan and his docs went straight to the Sponsor Dogs file. It simply wasn’t worth the risk. Trialled twice in Ireland without increasing anyone’s pulse and rocked up at Tia soon after. Tarzan was barely two years old and like so many, culled early from the game he was bred for. Rusheen Bouler wasn’t even registered with the GBGB.
Still our lad was on the payroll and has earned his corn. It is impossible to count the number of girls he has welcomed over the years. Tarzan was easy to look after and earned his promotion to the big kennel (house). He thoroughly enjoyed getting fussed over by his old flame Lana, but the young strumpet Duchess was more than he could cope with. Over the last few months, he became a bit wobbly but still enjoyed the outings with the others to the beach. Still adored his ham slices at two o’clock, (Sainburys Taste the Difference) and could usually be found following a stray sunbeam around the house.
We are going through the wringer at the moment and there is a big hole in the house tonight. Tia does not just lose a dog, it loses a member of our family. Tia’s sponsors, staff and supporters have known the day was coming for a while. I would personally like to thank the sponsors who have remained loyal, some travelling specifically to see him over the years.
Thanks for the love big lad. So gentle at the end.
