Rolo (Redbrick Rolo)
born Oct 21
Described as soft as Oat. Delightful. Four attempts to get his career started to no avail, Rolo has been lozzicking at his trainers expense since March 24.
Playful, sweet and first to give a cuddle. There won’t be a dry eye in the house when he leaves.
“Rolo has been in foster for less than 2 weeks and has settled into homelife super well, he is a very affectionate boy and a people person, who likes to make sure he can see us when he knows we are around. He has been clean in the house from day one, he immediately knew to go outside to toilet, he had one or two accidents when the door wasn’t left open for him, but he is learning that we will come and let him out.
At night, he has been sleeping in our bedroom at the side of the bed as he is happier being near us and sleeps all night when he is. On the odd time he has needed the toilet in the night, he has let us know.
Rolo travels well, lays down in the car and likes to look out of the back window as we drive along. Teaching him to jump into the car is a work in progress, but it’s still very early days.
Rolo has been living with 2 other greyhounds, a male and female, and has been great with them. He likes to be around them both and they will all often play together in the garden. Having come direct from kennels, Rolo is a little unsure of other breeds and can get excited when he sees them. He has had a couple of larger breed dogs approach him off-lead and has shown no issues. As with most Greyhounds, his socialisation with other breeds is a work in progress but he is showing all the signs that he will be fine. Other breeds are understandably very interesting to him at the moment and he can get excited on the lead when they go past him, he just wants to follow them. Rolo will bark at other dogs if they bark at him first but does nothing more.
Rolo LOVES cuddles and being fussed. He also loves “borrowing” things! Anything from socks and slippers to the TV remote and my glasses, he just takes them to his bed, it’s an adorable trait! He doesn’t chew things up or wreck anything, he can put his paws up on the counter but doesn’t take food or items from the kitchen sides. Rolo loves his walks and playing with Oscar. He is totally obsessed with himself, he loves seeing his own reflection in the windows, oven and TV! He is a nosey hound, who likes to put his paws up on the windowsill to watch the neighbours walk past!
Rolo is fine being left for a couple of hours. He paces for a couple of minutes and then gets in bed, saying that he does prefer to be around his humans. If we had to sum Rolo up in one sentence we’d say, “he is an absolute dream” who would suit a first time Greyhound or dog owner, providing they had done some research about the breed. We think Rolo could live happily with another sighthound or as an only dog”.
