Have a Heart
Many thanks to everyone who has bought a “heart” for our Christmas tree. So far you have raised over £700, and we still have lots left (as well as room on the tree!). If there’s someone you want to remember – pet, friend, loved one – or perhaps you just want to send us Christmas greetings, then consider buying a heart for £5 here.
You may have also noticed the bags under the tree… we have 25; one each for the kennel dogs that will be here over Christmas.
Any presents will be gratefully received… they are such lucky dogs.
Tinkerbell
Our lovely little old lady, Tinkerbell, came back home on Friday. We’ve had her seven years, after a neighbour in Woodlands, Doncaster relieved the drug addict next door of her. She was kept outside in appalling conditions. She has never put a foot wrong, and has never wanted to leave, despite numerous people wanting her.
Lots of meds and TLC for her now (as well as freshly cooked chicken). You can sponsor her here.
For such a small girl, the kennels seemed so empty without her. Fingers crossed.
Trainer Banned
Neil Britton (a previous Perry Barr trainer) has been banned for life and ordered to pay £1000 for lying about the whereabouts of five greyhounds.
I seriously hope that Celtic Diva, Battling Wild, LookingForADiva, Sandy Willow and Jay’s Swift are somewhere safe, but given the dishonesty of the trainer I fear the worst…
One post on a public forum relating to this reads “These days, they tend to use the canal method.”. This so-called method must be well-known now, if they are talking about it openly.
Sick beyond words.
Website Shop
We still have lots of calendars left for sale; for those who haven’t bought one yet, here is a sneaky peek at the photos. You can buy a calendar here. We’re also doing a deal at the moment – £17.50 for a calendar and a pack of eight Tia Rescue Christmas cards – available here.
We also have lots of greyhound dog coats – various colours and sizes available here.
Fostering
I have been talking to quite a lot of people recently who really want another dog but can’t afford the vets fees. With the absolute horror of the amount of dogs backing up in trainers kennels, I have come up with an idea.
We have 30 dogs on our site that are currently with trainers; we are steadily rehoming them, but wouldn’t it be really, really good if we could get some of these dogs into foster homes. We do have a few people who foster at the moment (thank you!), but we need more. All you need to do is provide the food, the love and we’ll sort the vets bills out.
A trainer rang me today from Essex; they have 34 dogs needing homes. It is getting very serious out there.
Jack is one such dog. This boy breaks my heart. He has very little chance of finding a home. He needs a foster home ASAP before I fetch him up here. He really needs someone to take care of him and love him.
Maybe you can help us get Jack and some of these dogs out for their first Christmas turkey? If you can help please ring 07974 960684.
Thank you.
