Remembering Avril
It is almost three weeks since Avril died. Avril has been a supporter of Tia since it’s beginning; she ran the Meltham shop voluntarily for years, and also used to run a clairvoyants evening and dance, and of course a very successful annual coffee morning. She also grew and sold a lot of plants for us, she loved plants…
She has always been there, in the background for Tia, and she never wanted any praise or recognition.
Jo fetched her to the dog show in Halifax in August, and she took great pleasure in seeing all the people and of course the dogs.
She will be missed massively.
The funeral is on Wednesday the 17th December at Helme Church, Meltham. Then at Broadoak Bowling Club, in Linthwaite.
Memory Tree
The first hearts went on the tree last weekend…
So far we have managed to raise £420 in memory of our much-missed friends.
But there’s still plenty of room on our tree for someone you’d like to remember; for just £5, you can place a heart in their memory, with all proceeds going directly to support the animals in our care.
And remember that all “heart” donations are gift aid eligible, so your contribution can be boosted by 25%, at no extra cost to you.
Christmas Raffle
A huge thank you to everyone who has bought a ticket for our Christmas raffle – we’ve sold over 100 tickets since it started. We’d love to reach 200 entries before it closes on the 21st – you can buy your tickets for just £5 each here.
The first prize this year is a 80+ item luxury hamper, full of goodies for humans and our four-legged friends alike! The prize will be delivered to wherever you are in the country, at no cost. The second prize is a week in the caravan at Tia Rescue, which for an additional donation of £200 can be upgraded to a stay in our holiday let.
Perhaps you were thinking of making a donation to Tia Rescue this Christmas – why not enter the raffle instead? It’s a great way to support the care of our animals whilst giving yourself the chance to win some fantastic prizes. Four entries (£20) is the cost of one bag of dog food – which we use one a day of!
Bungle, Kiah, and Jay, wondering why you haven’t bought your raffle tickets yet… all three are available for sponsor here
Fundraising Events
A reminder that we have our Christmas-themed walk around Cannon Hall, Cawthorne, Barnsley, S75 4AT, at 11am this coming Sunday 14th December.
To raise funds, will be running a Secret Santa Lucky Dip, a lovely dog-themed present for £10, containing several gifts for your dogs and a few for the humans.
Meet at 10.30am just off the main car park where the Tia stall usually sits, just behind the Pavillion cafe.
Come along, and get some wear out of those Christmas jumpers, coats, snoods and collars.
Here’s some pictures from our event last Sunday at Lakeside Doncaster…
…all of the dogs were superstars!
Rehoming
Hilda
Meet Hilda. She is a lovely black greyhound girl, fresh over from Ireland. 13 months old, never been schooled or raced. She is currently in a foster home with an elderly greyhound girl and two tiny terriers, and of course our Wendy.
She does need her own home but she is a total blank canvas. She was on a puppy farm just over a week ago.
“Baby Hilda has been with me just 24 hours! As you all can see from the pictures she has settled in really well, even with my little dogs. Up to now no accidents in the house and her manners have been impeccable especially for such a young girl….”
Welcome to Tia, Baby Hilda.
Reeves and Rolo
Two of our gorgeous black boys, Reeves and Rolo, are currently in foster whilst they wait for their forever homes. Both have settled in to home life amazingly well and are living happily with other hounds, but both could probably also live happily as an only dog.
Both Rolo & Reeves are super affectionate and are going to make some lucky people very happy.
Reeves & Rolo will both be attending the Cannon Hall walk next Sunday and they’d love it if you came along to say hello! They’d love it even more if you could offer them a home.
If you would like to rehome a Tia hound, please get in touch at rehoming@tia-rescue.org. We ask for a minimum donation of £350. Please leave your phone number in the email!
