Romeo
Drumroll please… after 2 and a half years of waiting, it was finally Romeo’s big day last week, as he headed off to his new home! We know this boy is going to be super spoiled and already had the most enormous, comfy bed waiting for him in his new home. A huge thank you to his adopters, his foster family (Neil and Mavis), who cared for him over the previous five months, and to Janet, who co-ordinated the adoption.

Be happy, big lad – you truly deserve it.
Please don’t forget we still have black boys Brax, Rodney, Cian, Dreamer, and Blackout waiting for a similar chance. Cian is now our most overlooked boy, having been waiting for 18 months.
Shows and Stalls
It was a busy weekend for Tia events, with our fundraising stall at Sandall Park, Doncaster, enjoying not a cloud in the sky and a lovely breeze. After sampling the coffee and doughnuts, the stall was busy from the outset. Thank you to everyone who came along to say hello and support Tia.

If you’re in the Doncaster area this weekend, we’d love to see you again. We’ll be back at Lakeside Shopping Village (DN4 5PH) this Sunday, 19th July, from around 10am until 4pm with our fundraising stall. You’ll usually find us outside Next, so do come along and say hello.

Looking a little further ahead, there are now less than three weeks to go until the first of our two ’30 Years of Tia Rescue’ fun dog shows. Join us on Sunday 2nd August at Easter Hardmuir Farm, Auldearn, Nairn, IV12 5QG, before we head to Manor Heath Park, Halifax, for our second celebration on Sunday 30th August.

We’d love to see you and your dogs at any of our upcoming events.
Kennels
The photograph below, shared on the greyhound forums, are said to show the GBGB-licensed kennels where at least three dogs reportedly lost their lives. Forum posts describe dogs being “cooked” in the heat, point to the condition of the roof, and claim the dogs were routinely locked in from 2pm until 8am the following day. It has also since been claimed on the forum that a further four dogs have died at the vets.
I am sick to my stomach of the GBGB covering everything up… Perkins, Bowman, the canal dogs, Hillthorpe Rehoming Centre, Turner, the track vets, dodgy traps… the list is endless.
Everything is internally investigated and covered up. It always has been, and it always will be, so they can keep their hideous sport.
It really isn’t rocket science.
Remembering Joey
And finally this week… we are remembering Joey, who we lost on Tuesday night.
It was 2014 when we saw Joey at a foal sale.
Only two years old and the brunt of everyone’s jokes. Too big, a wrong-coloured leg, and sweet itch. A sad, gentle giant, only a baby. No one bought him, thankfully.

A couple of weeks later, we hot-footed it to Scotland and he came home to Tia.
A couple of years later he developed stringhalt. He walked funny… so what? He was always skinny but still grew to 19 hands.

I have to think that he enjoyed his life at Tia. He was no bother at all… not for one second.
Thanks to Moray Coast Vets for coming out.

The huge horse has left a huge hole here on the farm.
Sleep tight, big fella.
