River (Monbeg River)
born Jan 22
Likes to go for walks and be out and about. Meeting new people, that sort of thing. No-one told him that you had to move a bit faster to get on a track. River was last in his only race, back in Aug 23 at Enniscorthy. Hammered by 14 lengths, River found himself on a ferry bound for Doncaster and a fresh start. Maybe he was a late bloomer. Six godawful trials later and the trainer refused to be further embarrassed. Even our Branno beat him with ease.
This lad has been waiting for a home to show up and and spring him from the kennel of shame.
His trainer couldn’t agree more!

Reeves (Cushie Reeves)
born Feb 2022
Hit the deck back in Feb at Doncaster and also managed to get disqualified for life to boot. We have looked at the form that day and it seems to have been an extremely rough race. Horrible. If you look closely, you can see the huge scar on his back from the sixty stitches he needed. His trainer tells us there were no internal injuries and he has made a full recovery.
The way he was leaping around would confirm that. Could hardly stand still for the camera and was the friendliest chap we have seen for a while. His adopter will have a lifetime of stories to tell/embellish as a bonus.
“We have been lucky to walk Reeves on a number of occasions. He is a fabulous boy who absolutely loves people and wants to be friends with everyone he meets. He is great with other hounds and he hasn’t shown much interest in the other breeds he’s seen whilst out and about, including smaller dogs such as Cockapoos. Reeves really enjoys being out and about and travels well in the car – jumping in by himself & laying straight down. He enjoys his adventures so much, he’s always a little reluctant to get out of the car upon his return to kennels. Reeves is a big boy but he is easy to walk and doesn’t pull on his lead. He’s a confident, happy go lucky dog so would probably be happy as an only dog or he could also live happily with another male or female Greyhound. Reeves is such a happy boy who is going to bring some lucky person so much joy”
Reeves is lucky to still be with us and deserves a special home.

Jim (Emers Jim)
born July 22
Tuxedo greyhound. Stunning. Born in Ireland. Failed to impress in his first run and red carded for life in his second. Bravo Jim.
A daft puppy who’s tail never stopped wagging on our walk. Very friendly and playful and good with kids – would suit a family. He likes to be involved and with you as much as possible.
We love this sort.

Rolo (Redbrick Rolo)
born Oct 21
Described as soft as Oat. Delightful. Four attempts to get his career started to no avail, Rolo has been lozzicking at his trainers expense since March 24.
Playful, sweet and first to give a cuddle. There won’t be a dry eye in the house when he leaves.
“Rolo has been in foster for less than 2 weeks and has settled into homelife super well, he is a very affectionate boy and a people person, who likes to make sure he can see us when he knows we are around. He has been clean in the house from day one, he immediately knew to go outside to toilet, he had one or two accidents when the door wasn’t left open for him, but he is learning that we will come and let him out.
At night, he has been sleeping in our bedroom at the side of the bed as he is happier being near us and sleeps all night when he is. On the odd time he has needed the toilet in the night, he has let us know.
Rolo travels well, lays down in the car and likes to look out of the back window as we drive along. Teaching him to jump into the car is a work in progress, but it’s still very early days.
Rolo has been living with 2 other greyhounds, a male and female, and has been great with them. He likes to be around them both and they will all often play together in the garden. Having come direct from kennels, Rolo is a little unsure of other breeds and can get excited when he sees them. He has had a couple of larger breed dogs approach him off-lead and has shown no issues. As with most Greyhounds, his socialisation with other breeds is a work in progress but he is showing all the signs that he will be fine. Other breeds are understandably very interesting to him at the moment and he can get excited on the lead when they go past him, he just wants to follow them. Rolo will bark at other dogs if they bark at him first but does nothing more.
Rolo LOVES cuddles and being fussed. He also loves “borrowing” things! Anything from socks and slippers to the TV remote and my glasses, he just takes them to his bed, it’s an adorable trait! He doesn’t chew things up or wreck anything, he can put his paws up on the counter but doesn’t take food or items from the kitchen sides. Rolo loves his walks and playing with Oscar. He is totally obsessed with himself, he loves seeing his own reflection in the windows, oven and TV! He is a nosey hound, who likes to put his paws up on the windowsill to watch the neighbours walk past!
Rolo is fine being left for a couple of hours. He paces for a couple of minutes and then gets in bed, saying that he does prefer to be around his humans. If we had to sum Rolo up in one sentence we’d say, “he is an absolute dream” who would suit a first time Greyhound or dog owner, providing they had done some research about the breed. We think Rolo could live happily with another sighthound or as an only dog”.

Boost (Redbrick Boost)
born Oct 21
Quiet enough fellow. Enough brains to know when and how to quit the ring. Boost won four races but frankly we don’t think his heart was in it. Just another black dog, sitting in his kennel awaiting a family to overlook his colour. Not too big at 31 kgs. His sisters have bagged themselves great homes but his brothers Rolo and Mars are in the same situation.
Boost is a quiet and friendly boy who walks calmly on his lead. He is currently kennelled with a very timid girl and Boost’s calm nature gives her a lot of confidence. Boost would benefit from being rehomed with a female Greyhound.
He has been waiting a year now. Time he was gone.

Star (Vixons Star)
born July 2020
Strong silent type. Never hear him in the kennels. A lovely calm solid lad who needs to be an only dog. Probably holding his personality in check until he is out of the industry. Well bred, winner of 21 races and owes the game nothing.
Great with people, Star last raced back in July, trailing in last. Trialled a couple of times last month but his heart isn’t in it anymore, At five years old, it is time to call it a day.
Come on son, let’s get you a home.
“Star was super excited and enthusiastic when he realised it was his turn for a trip to the park! He will happily jump into the car by himself and lays down for the journey. Star is a lovely friendly boy who is a pleasure to take out and, after a few minutes of initial excitement, walks nicely on a loose lead. It was the first time Star has seen other breeds, and he understandably seemed a little unsure. His response was to back away rather than move towards them, but we are sure his confidence will grow with time and as other breeds become more familiar. Star didn’t react or bark at any of the breeds we saw, even 2 small dogs who were “jingling” along as they had bells on their coats! Star loves to spend time sniffing and was quite happy walking on his own without another dog for company. We think Star thoroughly enjoyed his walk because, upon returning to the kennels, he didn’t want to get out of the car! A really lovely boy who is being overlooked and deserves his chance to shine.”
