Bellamy (Scotland)

Bellamy (Scotland)

Bellamy (Mouzey Mac)

born June 2020

Last raced June 2023 trailing in last after a bit of a rough race, something we hate to see. Took nine races in his career and deserved a better finish. He is very gentle and friendly. Also, he is clean in his kennel.

Desperately needs a change of luck. Bellamy is part of the welfare batch and is here with us in Nairn. He is only a little chap and is full of fun.

Bellamy is a straightforward lad who has spent a few weeks in a home. He passed with flying colours and it’s only because of a change in the family circumstances that he has been returned.

A simply delightful dog and one who deserves to be on his way down the drive.

Please give Debs a ring if interested.

Kit (Scotland)

Kit (Scotland)

Kit (Tierney Choice)

d.o.b. 29.8.21

This is a little cracker of a dog. A Macmanus welfare case. His career in Britain lasted 14 days start to finish, almost eclipsing his Irish form (beaten 23 lengths on his only start). Excellent effort Kit. As you can see, he is a bit motheaten but has vastly improved from the beaten down wreck that was coaxed from the van a few months ago. Kit has begun to enjoy life again,

There are a few scars on this lad’s body, we have discovered that males were kennelled together un-muzzled. As a softer dog young Kit tended to be picked on a bit. We are looking for an owner with a heart. Nothing would give us more of a lift to see him on his way.

This is a nice kind of fellow and the sooner he is out of here the better. Needs love, lots of it.

Time now.

Presley (Scotland)

Presley (Vixons Power)

d.o.b. 2/5/2020

Full of beans and very friendly with it. Suit people who like exercise, cross-fit, own fit bits, that sort of thing!

Presley has nothing to be ashamed of with his score sheet. Nineteen wins out of 102 races. Tough lad who has just retired and in danger of being forgotten because of his colour.

Presley is with us in Scotland; Deb a ring if you are interested.

Probably more suited to being in a sole dog household

Bauer (Scotland)

Bauer (Scotland)

Bauer (Corrin Bolt)

d.o.b. 17/8/2018

Lad who has been rotting in his Kennel since his last race in June 2022, until he came up here in August. Another of the Macmanus dogs.

Veteran of 106 races and should have been on a sofa long ago.

Bauer is probably the most troubled of the lot. Rumour has it that McManus kennelled dogs together without muzzles. The track vet was always stitching them up. Bauer has scars all over him. He watches every move in the kennels and i only hope he sleeps well on a night. He is coming round, we can catch him now in the paddocks and he is learning to trust again but very, very slowly.

Mulder (Scotland)

Mulder (Scotland)

Mulder (Mega Boy)

d.o.b. 1/8/19

Mulder won 4 of his 20 races, the last one was in March 2022 and he never left his trainers kennel again.

He sits firmly at the back of the kennel waiting for us to make a wrong move. A very nervous lad at the moment. One of the Lee Macmanus batch of nine we took in at the end of August. He needs an experienced home, preferably with another dog but this boy must be kept safe and not let off his lead even in a secure paddock.

Work in progress.

Adoption donation

Adoption donation

Adopting a greyhound or lurcher from Tia is the beginning of a long friendship with one of the kindest, gentlest, and quietest dog breeds you will ever find. (They are smart too: which one of you has to go to work to feed the dog….?) Greyhounds and lurchers make wonderful companions as anyone who has adopted one before will be only too keen to tell you… whether you want to know or not!

Adopting one of our dogs is a journey for both you and the dog, but you may not realise that your adoption donation will help all the other dogs here at Tia too.

Before you adopt your new companion, we will have cared for him or her, possibly for many months or even years. The dog will have had a check-up with a vet, they will have been neutered, ‘micro-chipped’, possibly had dental work and will definitely have had lots of feeds! This, of course, all costs money and your adoption donation goes some way to helping us meet these essential expenses which really are never-ending.

Sadly, for various reasons, not all our dogs can be rehomed: perhaps they have health or mobility issues or, occasionally, they are just too nervous to make adoption practical. This means that we will have to find the means to look after our ‘for-ever’ resident dogs for the rest of their lives. Of course, we just love to do that, and we try to make their lives interesting and varied as well as safe, but to do this means that we have to keep funds coming in.

So, when you make your adoption donation, you are not just giving a new home to your new family member, you are helping lots of other Tia dogs as well. Your donation will help pay for staff, vets, accommodation, food and even treats.

It is up to you to decide how much to donate, but we ask for a donation of at least £350 which will help to cover some of the costs of caring for your new dog before she or he decided to let you adopt them. As an animal rescue charity, Tia will be able to claim Gift Aid on your donation (if you are an eligible UK taxpayer) and this makes your donation go even further.

So, thank you from all the dogs and their staff here at Tia for making a home for one of our four-legged friends and for helping to look after all the other dogs both now and for the future. Every penny helps and we all deeply appreciate your kind donation.
