Short-Term Fostering

Do you;

  • Love sighthounds?
  • Live within travelling distance of a Donaldson’s Vets branch?
  • Feel you could change the life of one of our hounds?

…then maybe you can help one of our dogs transition from life in a kennel to life in a home, by becoming a short-term foster.

Why Foster?

Becoming a short-term foster home is exceptionally rewarding, and our short-term fosterers play an instrumental role in helping our dogs find their forever families.

Imagine how strange a home must seem to a Greyhound who has only ever known life in a kennel.  Short-term foster provides a stepping stone between racing and adoption, giving our dogs the opportunity to adjust and settle into their new way of life and enables them to recover from essential veterinary care (such as neutering and dentals) in a safe and loving environment.

But don’t just take our word for it…

What our fosters say...

Fostering is so rewarding, knowing that you’ve helped these beautiful souls find their new homes.

Adopters are more likely to show an interest in a dog who is in foster as you already know their character.  Fostering works!

Give it a try!

Maura has just left us.

We will miss her deeply but know this is the perfect home for her.  She remembered her new family and greeted them with such excitement.

It was wonderful to see.

We have the same discussion every time we foster – we would love to keep them!

But if we keep them, we wouldn’t be able to help the other dogs find their new homes and we are happy to help as many as we can.

Watching them grow and start trusting is so special and seeing them happy in their new homes is the absolute best!
