It’s time to talk about donations.

Many of you understand that when you donate (or buy goods) via our website, Tia is charged a small transaction fee for the privilege of using PayPal, which currently sits at 1.4% + 20p, per transaction. Although this is a lower rate than what a regular “for-profit” business would be charged, the financial hit is still significant.

Put into perspective; from the beginning of this year until the end of October, Tia received just over £36,000 in donations and payments via our website, for which we were charged just over £700 in fees. That amount of money could have paid for 35 bags of dog food, which we use one of every day.

Let’s face it; PayPal doesn’t need the money. But we do.

So, if you are thinking of making a donation – one-off or recurring – we would urge you to do so via BACS/ standing order.

We have always offered donors the chance to set up monthly standing orders to support us, and we now offer an even easier way to set this up via our website. If you want to make a regular donation (either one-off or recurring), you can do so here. Enter your details, and upon completion of checkout, you will be provided with our bank details to set up payment yourself.

We also offer a similar option for sponsorships, and our monthly lottery; at checkout select “direct bank transfer”, and again you will be provided with the relevant details upon completion.

We know it’s less convenient than a quick online payment, but you’ve seen the potential difference the extra money can make to us.

Thank you.
