Langley

Langley

Breed: Greyhound
Sex: Male

About me

My Way Longley.       dob 1.9.2012

Langley raced at Belle Vue until he was nearly four years old. He wasn’t really very good, just an honest card filler. When he was no longer of any use his owner left him at the trainers with the instruction “put him to sleep” and promptly stopped paying the kennel bill. That happens more often than you think.

Fortunately the trainer and a “greyhound friend” arranged for him to come here one evening. Another black dog, slowly making his way down to the sponsor end of the kennel block like so many others here,

This older lad has been here for some years, he is a big gentle black hound with mesmerising eyes. Langley is settled and happy. Nobody ever chose him to go and put his feet up, he also remains as keen as mustard towards all things small.

Langley is coming up 11 years old. He is going grey and getting wobbly but he still loves going for a stroll around the big grass paddock. He has been a pleasure all these years.

Kiah

Kiah

Breed: Lurcher
Sex: Female

About Me

Kiah came to under our wing in March 2015; a stray from Hampole in Doncaster, she was filthy, thin and a nervous wreck. Fortune smiled upon her for once and Kiah went to live with an elderly lady with a cat. She was very happy in her new home but the old lady fell ill and Kiah had to return to the fold. She has made no attempt to be rehomed again and pins herself at the back of her kennel so no one can see her.

Kiah is head over heels in love with James, they are never apart.

She must be coming up 10 years old now, she is  blissfully happy with her guy.

Uriah

Uriah

Breed: Greyhound
Sex: Male

About Me

Toggle McQueen       dob  12/6/13

We had only been in Scotland for two days when Uriah let out the scream of death. He was playing in the garden, and I knew as soon as I looked at him that he had broken his leg. I also instinctively knew that it was cancer, which the vets soon confirmed. But I couldn’t let him go, not yet. I thought at best he might
have a good summer, but I really felt that he wouldn’t be around much longer…

We all prayed for more time, particularly Lana – they are inseparable.

Yet, unbelievably, seventeen months after having his leg amputated, Uriah is still here, going strong. He is an absolute gentleman, and every second with him is precious.

About me

John’s Vic        dob. 31.10.2015

Victor came to Tia in a hell of a state at 2 years old – no racing record and a nervous wreck. He used to sit at the back of his kennel afraid of human contact. Victor has been with us over 5 years, he is still a nervous boy, hates anything new, but is content with his lot…

Jack

Jack

Breed: Lurcher
Sex: Male

About Me

Jack came to Tia in October 2015 at roughly 3 years old from the stray kennels. He was emaciated and very poorly with kennel cough. When he was fit and well, he was rehomed. However, his prey drive was too much for his new owners. He is only small but shocking with other breeds.

Jack is around 11 years old now. He is no bother at all and loves his life at Tia, especially when Kenzie comes to stay.

Sandy

Sandy

Breed: Greyhound
Sex: Male

About Me

Rogers Rover     dob  19.5.2014

Sandy was sprung from the local flapping track one day, as he was destined for a different outcome. He had already bitten two people whilst guarding his kennel. He has been here since January 2017 and still guards his kennel if anyone different enters the sponsor block. But from those he knows, he loves all the fuss and attention.

Sandy would have without doubt been put to sleep years ago if he had gone anywhere else. He is very much loved. Sandy loves to lie in the sun and will not come in until he is ready…
